MINEX III certification

Sonda’s matching algorithm and template generator have successfully undergone the compliance test MINEX III. MINEX is a recognized international testing of biometric algorithms conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The Minutiae Interoperability Exchange III test is an ongoing program to measure the performance of fingerprint matching software utilizing interoperable minutiae-based fingerprint templates. The current database size is more than 3M fingerprints of left and right index fingers. Fingerprint images are compressed with WSQ in the ratio 1:15. The testing of the algorithms goes in two directions: creation of fingerprint templates in INCITS 378 and searching and matching of templates.

NIST team carefully analyzes the submitted algorithm according to the following parameters: accuracy of a fingerprint template creation in accordance with given standards, accuracy of search and templates matching, false match rate (FMR) and false non-match rate (FNMR), estimation of uncertainty related to statistics of changes in observed values. Sonda’s algorithm meets all certification requirements of MINEX III. According to comparative testing estimation Sonda is in the TOP 10 of the world’s leading software developers.

MINEX III certification allows working with the international standard for the exchange of biometric data in INCITS 378. This format is intended for designing of identification systems of citizens in national passport projects.
