The purpose of such biometric project - to accelerate and simplify payment of purchases, and at the same time, to keep high quality of servicing. The system is started in «Azbuka Vkusa» shop to the address Moscow, Nakhimovsky Avenue, 61. All cash desks of shop were equipped additionally with POS terminals with function of biometric identification.
To pay purchases in a supermarket, now it is enough to put a finger to the special POS terminal with the built-in biometric scanner. The buyer needs previously to register prints of two any fingers on cash desk and to tie them to a bank card of VISA or MasterCard. After registration buyers can pay purchases only with a fingerprint. For clients there is also available a payment method on a bank card or cash.
Fingerprint images are not stored in the database of theproject participants. At the registration process fingerprints transformed into digitel pattern. Then an ID number is given to the pattern, which is tied to the bak card of the owner. To restore the real fingerprint from digital pattern or use the pattern somehow differently is impossible.
«In this project we apply our unique biometrical ellaborations, which are successfully used in Russian schools, universities as well as the MIA and the Ministry of Defence- commented the Director General of Sonda Technology Anatoly Bokov. - Our system allows in seconds to compare tens of millions of fingerprint templates and identify the customer quickly and accurately. The use of biometrics in the calculation makes the buying process more convenient for customers and more profitable for shops. In addition, it significantly increases the reliability of payment transactions, as it eliminates the loss of the card and there is no need to use a password».
