Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Features and Capabilities
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 is designed for development of network-based large-scale systems for AFIS applications.
SONDA’s proprietary algorithm is especially useful in applications, where high speed and search accuracy are very critical. A number of special features, which help to make fingerprint identification in systems of national scale fast and reliable, are listed below:
-
Scalable matchers architecture. Just adding of new matchers could easily increase system performance if it is necessary. Fingerprint matching speed increases proportionally to the number of added matchers.
-
Databases of unlimited size support (up to tens or hundreds millions of records).
-
Full
NIST MINEX (ANSI/INCITS 378) Certification and support of
ISO 19794-2 fingerprint template format.
-
-
Tolerance to nonlinear deformation and change of fingerprint scale. It is implemented due to use of patented model of fingerprint, which is based on topology description. That is why SONDA algorithm provides more accurate results in matching of flat fingerprints with rolled fingerprints and in many other complicated cases.
-
Tolerance to fingerprint translation, rotation. Sonda SDK PE 1.2 algorithm provides an ability to match fingerprints positively even if they are translated and rotated. It is also able to identify fingerprints of the same finger even if they have only 5 similar minutiae (specific fingerprint points). Usually two fingerprints of the same finger have 20-40 similar minutiae on average.
-
System fault-tolerance. In the case of Matcher fault, the data stored on the Matcher is distributed between other Matchers automatically and search will be continued. The search speed decreases very slightly, but the work of the whole large-scale system remains stable.
-
Real-time request processing can be achieved thanks to scalable server architecture.
-
1:1 and 1:N identification. Sonda SDK PE 1.2 can be used for 1-to-1 (verification), which may be done on both Client or Server side, and 1-to-many matching (identification).
-
Identification by several fingerprints images for better reliability. The person may be identified by several fingerprint images taken from different fingers. That results better reliability of identification.
-
Flat and rolled fingerprints matching. Sonda SDK PE 1.2 allows implementing searches of fingerprints independently from its type: flat or rolled fingerprints.
-
Image quality check. Sonda SDK PE 1.2 implements control of quality of fingerprint images and returns quality index in a range from 0...100%. That allows obtaining fingerprints of required quality, the level of which may be set in accordance with requirements. As a result - more accurate matching.
-
Adaptive image procession. Sonda SDK PE 1.2 algorithm determines integral features and extracts minutia automatically. It can create template even from poor quality fingerprint images.
-
Sensor independence. Sonda SDK PE 1.2 supports multiple fingerprint readers and works independently from the type of sensor. It operates both with fingerprint images obtained from biometric sensors or from paper.

Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Components
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 is intended for development of large-scale network-based fingerprint identification applications.
Ready-to-use Server and Matcher components perform fast parallel matching on the databases of unlimited size. Adding new Matchers easily scales the system and ensures its fault-tolerance.
Client API components are intended to develop Client-side application.
An outline structure of the system, based on Sonda SDK PE 1.2:
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Server
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Server implements parallel matching. Adding however large number of Matcher easy scales its level of productivity and allows working with databases of unlimited size. For this purpose Server distributes the templates database between required number of Matchers.
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Server includes Oracle database support module.
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Matcher
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Matcher performs template matching on its own part of database. Every such part is a subset of the central database. The system can distribute matching on unlimited number of Matchers to achieve the required level of productivity.
Matchers store templates records on a database of special format or RAM.
Sonda SDK PE 1.2 Client
The Client API components are intended for development of Client-side application. Client API components provide the whole set of functions for biometric identification: fingerprint scanning, image processing, search queries forming, viewing and appearance of results, etc.
